Day 241 - Left/Right, No Center
Left, or right? I am not talking about politics. With the politics is easy, I always know which direction I need to go and am going… and it is just right for me that I am not going to the right. What I am talking about are the actual left and right… The directions. I don’t know why, I don’t know how, I don’t know what is wrong with me, but I don’t know left and right. Sometimes I do, but it is only in certain situations, depending on how my body is positioned and only if there is a simple command given, e.g. “Go to the right!”(actually, I might still have to think about it). And then, in more complex situations, like Pilates class – I am lost. When the instructor gives instructions involving the simulteneous movement of more than one body part in more than one direction… left arm, right foot… go to the left side of the machine, with the right foot I don’t know where… I am completely lost and confused. I have no idea why. Left and right are not natural for me. I have been that way since I was a kid. How some people just know, it is fascinating to me.
According to Prof. Google: “Mixing up left and right can be a sign of stress or anxiety, and it can also be a symptom of a cognitive disorder, such as dyscalculia. It can also be caused by an overstimulated mind, which can cause confusion. Additionally, some people are born with an innate confusion about left and right.” Since I am that way since I was a kid, my hope is that my diagnosis is the last one… I am just innately confused!
